Bodie Island Lighthouse - 214 stairs take visitors to the top of this black and white striped lighthouse, another shining star along the Outer Banks coast. This is part of the National Seashore park system and a great place to learn more about the area's nautical past.

Along the coast of Nags Head stand stately cottages and beach homes available for rental. Being primarily a resort town, visitors may prefer to rent a vacation home for an extended stay, though coastal hotels and motels are available in season.
