St. Kitts and Nevis Antique Maps - With an area of 104 square miles and population of 42,000, St. Kitts and Nevis are located east of Puerto Rico in the Caribbean Sea. The population is largely of African descent and lives in rural areas along the coast. Agriculture is the mainstay of the economy with sugar cane, cotton and fruits as the major crops. Sugar processing and tourism are leading industries. Once a British colony, the islands gained their independence in 1983.
